Welcome to the Deconstruction of Ford Hall!

Ford hall has always been this building on campus I never had any reason to go to, except for seeing a production of Bye Bye Birdie, but now that it is blocking all access from one end of campus to the other, I have taken a new interest. On this page is archived all images I've taken of the building (with a digital camera) with the date taken above the selections. Any day I was not on campus or forgot the camera is not archived here. Feel free to send pictures if you have any (he he).

View from Slosberg Music Building Parking Lot. A bit closer. Notice the sagging roof that has fallen in. The day before this the roof was still intact, and was sagging a lot. It looked really cool, but I forgot the camera that day. Another View of the roof. Lovely pile of rubble, eh? A great front view from the building across from Ford. You gotta love seeing a building with it's side being slowly eaten away. This is right after taking the first part of the "Detour" (yep, it really is a detour, a long, painful one). Those delightful fences extend around the entire construction perimeter. Also, look at the gaping emptiness of the windows. WOO HOO!

From Slosberg Music Center. A Beautiful Sight! The roof has completely given up, and that destruction crew is really tearing in. Woo Hoo! Kind of like in the X-Files movie, when that side of the building blew up, only this is real. YAY! Eat! Eat! Eat! Goin' for the gold, the interior must be the juciest!

Beautiful! Great view of the Lack of Roof! And what's that on the Wall? A Treasure Map? From across the way again, you can now see the billowing clouds of smoke as the rubble piles up. The metasl monster is burying it's prey, and those poor constructin men just don't know where to get a big enough shovel to dig it up again. The black trashcan is having the time of it's life, though. The windows, they're watching us! They keenly feel the loss of their glass, and want something to fill the emptiness. . .

From the Terrace outside Ableson Physics Building From Terrace outside Ableson Physics Building. Kinda eerie to see through just one, gaping, window. From across the tree park thingy, nearer than Ableson. They finally removed some of the baricades (but I still need to traipse the entirty of campus to get anywhere). How often can you see through a building? Wow, you can see the whole outline of a tree through the building! And, of course, another pile of rubble!

I know there used to be another side of the building. . . Not sure exactly, I guess it was too dark. A nice view of the evil fence, though. I never will understand why they took out the stairwell wall first. I guess to prevent people from taking up residence in the building. But, well, it certainly has it's appeal! What a lonely tree, watching me through the former stairwell. Two of the beatlike monstrosities, and a lovely glancing view of the "detour" sign.

More of the beasties. Damn Detour. And, well, doesn't it look like someone broke a few hundred teeth on this thing? And you knew better when you bit on a jawbreaker. Some people Never Learn. AAAHHHHH!!! IT HEARD ME! Wait! Is it putting the place back together? NOOOOO!!!!!! Yet another nice view. Man, the inside of this building sure is colorful. Yellow, black, white, red, man, its a work of art! And the branch of the tree kindly obliged not to block my view. Wasn't that nice? From ALL THE WAY ACROSS THE PARKING LOT that I "used" to cross to get onto campus. Ah, well. . .

81700aft16.jpg 81700aft17.jpg 81700aft18.jpg 81700aft19.jpg 81700aft20.jpg
Another View across the parking lot. Can't see the deconstructino through the trees. . . See, I began traipsing around in the woods along the side of the baricade, so I could get the "FULL" experience of the deconstruction. Isn't it lovely? And you can see through to the other side from this side! Isn't that cool? Man oh Man! So that's what the cross sectin of a partially comsumed building looks like!

81700aft21.jpg 81700aft22.jpg 81700aft23.jpg 81700aft24.jpg 81700aft25.jpg
And so, that's where the rooms used to be. . . See that thing in the second window from the left, that's a piece of the building hanging precariously. If you hadn't already noticed, it's featured in several pictures. Every day, those deconstructors look more and more like dragons, evil ones. See how it rests atop it's pile of hoarded building? Five empty windows, five escapes to the other side. I think this is where I finally finished my traipse through the woods. . . And in that window on the right, the lower one? If the resolution was better, there was this reddish tower in the distance. . .

81700aft26.jpg 81700aft27.jpg 81700aft28.jpg 81700aft29.jpg 81700aft30.jpg
The roof sure looks miserable, like it will slide off any moment. . . See the lower right window? Well, you still can't see that red tower. . . Pretty A Casualty. I passed this poor, misbegotten lamp on my way to cut through the Hassenfeld Conference Center (A.K.A. upstairs from Sherman Dining Hall), and couldint resist documenting the carnage of the deconstruction. It a lamp isn't safe, who's next? A view from the other side of the Hassenfeld Conference Center (A.K.A. upstairs from Sherman Dining Hall), and still behind the baricade. That rock has been cut off from us, but it perseveers. Is that lamp next?

My most Favoritist Picture of the Deconstruction. A whole roof, but only half a building. Amusing, isn't it? One last picture. Ford knew I was running out of shots, so the sun decided to make a brief resurgence, but the tree had other ideas.
